THE MIGHTY AVENGERS
vs
THE JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA!
What Has Come Before
The Avengers, Earth's mightiest heroes, have recently went through some of the greatest challenges of the group's long career. While the heroes were acting to stop a war far across the galaxy, their home planet was wracked with destruction at the hands of numerous villains. The city of Milwaukee was annihilated at the hands of Victor Von Doom, while the island of Genosha was invaded and nearly destroyed by Baron Zemo and his Thunderbolts. Upon returning to Earth, the Avengers found two major changes awaiting them: the reinstatement of their West Coast expansion branch, and their forced replacement at the hands of a new team chosen by the Black Panther. Several of the heroes left the team, including the former chairman, the mighty Thor. Now, the Avengers are once again amidst a time of chaos, but a threat is brewing that will reunite the most powerful of their number. A villainous madman has set plans in motion to breach the gap between dimensions, unaware that it will result in the greatest battle the world has ever witnessed... |
Editor's Note
From July-October, 2005, this fantastic special event was originally shared between two fan fiction sites: Marvel 2000 and JLU 2001. Installments would alternate between sites, running through JLA #29-34 and Avengers #36-41. An additional two-part epilogue was also released, hosted at a third fan fiction site, Marvel Reborn. This massive epic was the brainchild of Curt Fernlund and Chris Munn, both of whom have received enormous praise throughout the fanfic community for their work. This tale is proof that fanfic can be so much more than amateur devotees scribbling a testament to their favorite characters. Marvel 2000 has since gone through a few iterations since the event, and now we’re pleased to bring you the entire combined story as part of a special cyberback release! |
